SwampFire Zoom-based workshops are occasional events
that
follow this format
. . .
How will the workshop function?
No one has to register ahead of time. Whoever shows up will be welcome. Anyone may read their piece simply to share what they are working on and gain support from other writers. Anyone may read their piece for general critique or to get focused comments. Anyone may attend the workshop not to read but just to listen and enjoy the supportive environment of fellow writers.
What is the time/word limit for each reading?
If a prose piece (fiction or creative nonfiction), 750 words (no more than 5 minutes)
If a poetry piece, one or two poems (no more than 5 minutes)
Why the time/word restriction?
To make sure there is adequate discussion/support/critique time for each piece.
Will pieces need to be placed in the Facebook “Files” folder of our SwampFire page ahead of time?
No . . . In fact, Facebook no longer lets us remove files after a Zoom session, so that feature has been deleted from our group. Sorry for the inconvenience, but posting a file would be an online publication, and for most of us workshop pieces are not ready for publication.
